ABC Reef Safaris delivers its bespoke Great Barrier Reef experiences on two custom-designed reef vessels. Independence is Port Douglas’ premium dive vessel, taking just 12 guests to experience the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. Voyager is a brand-new luxury catamaran commencing operations in October 2025, providing outstanding snorkelling tours for just 24 guests. Each vessel is surveyed to carry additional people, but we keep numbers small to maximise your Great Barrier Reef experience. Both vessels are stocked the latest snorkelling and scuba diving equipment and are crewed by passionate Marine Biologists, who are with you and in out the water to enrich your day with reef knowledge.

Independence launched ABC’s reef adventures in 2015 and remains central to our operation. At 16 metres, she is purpose-built for speed and comfort, with a shallow draft that reaches reef sites off-limits to larger vessels. Licensed for 25 but limited to just 12 guests, every trip feels personal and unhurried. A shaded rear deck flows directly to the water, while the open design lets you move from reef time to relaxation time, without needing to get changed, which is a rare feature on reef boats. Cruising at 19–20 knots, Independence delivers smooth travel and access to remote coral gardens and lagoons. Returning to her roots as a dedicated dive vessel, she now offers small-group certified diving with only five divers per Marine Biologist guide, extended dive times, freediver-friendly options and adventurous snorkelling. For tours or private charters, Independence defines reef freedom.

Voyager represents the next generation of ABC’s Great Barrier Reef touring capabilities. This 20 metre luxury catamaran was designed to elevate passenger experience. With capacity for 60 guests, day tour numbers are limited to just 24 in accordance with our small-group philosophy. Relax and unwind on the queen-sized daybeds on the sundeck, shaded seating at the stern, or bow space with uninterrupted ocean views. While inside the air-conditioned lounge features wide, business-class style seats, a full service bar and handcrafted timber dining table. Purpose-built for effortless reef access, Voyager’s design includes an ocean-level platform and easy stair entry, making the transition into the water smooth for all abilities. Voyager offers small-group guided snorkelling with Marine Biologist guides, and the option for first time diving and sets a new benchmark for boutique, luxury reef adventures.
