ABC Rebranded: From Snorkel to Safaris

ABC Snorkel Charters has officially rebranded to ABC Reef Safaris. Same team, same passion, with expanded fleet and range of reef activities.

ABC Snorkel Charters has rebranded to become ABC Reef Safaris. This change reflects what we do today and where we’re heading with focus and passion. At ABC our core values have always been on small-group, personalised reef experiences and that has not changed. What has changed is our capacity to deliver more outstanding Great Barrier Reef activities and experiences, thanks to the addition of a new vessel.

As of December 2025, ABC Reef Safaris will have two versatile reef boats. We retain our beloved Independence, that has proudly provided award winning reef experiences since 2015, and welcome Voyager. Voyager is a multi-million dollar luxury catamaran, custom designed and built to provide premium snorkelling tours to the Great Barrier Reef. Now in its final stages of completion, Voyager will commence service in December 2025. This expanded capacity allows Independence to return to its original operation, as a luxurious scuba diving boat.

A Legacy of Diving – ABC Scuba Diving Port Douglas

Before ABC Snorkel Charters, we operated as ABC Scuba Diving Port Douglas, running dedicated small-group dive tours out of Port Douglas. Independence was our first custom dive boat and launched the ABC reef operations in 2015, and quickly became known simply as “The Dive Boat.” With award-winning trips and countless 5-star reviews, Independence helped us become the #1 dive operator in the region. Over the years Independence and ABC evolved, from dive-only, to mixed dive and snorkel, to snorkel-only. Now, we’re returning her to her roots. Independence will once again be the premium small-group dive vessel for Port Douglas, offering:

• Certified diving with groups capped at just 5 divers per Marine Biologist Guide.
• Extended dive times of up to 90 minutes per dive.
• Freediving friendly options, using weight belts.
• Adventurous snorkelling for non-diving companions.
• Just 12 passengers on board, keeping things personal, safe and immersive.

The Next Chapter – ABC Reef Safaris welcomes Voyager

Launching in December 2025, Voyager will be the Great Barrier Reef’s newest and most luxurious day tour vessel. Every detail has been designed around passenger comfort and personal attention and while Voyager could comfortably accommodate 60 guests, we take just 24 to retain our small-group focus, while maximising experience and spaciousness. Every detail of this 20m catamaran has been thoughtfully executed and its stylings and furnishings make it more white boat than reef boat. Step inside to air-conditioned lounges with plush, business-class style seating, or stretch out on queen-sized daybeds across the open air sundeck and bow. Prefer shade? The back deck provides a breezy escape. Every area has been crafted with care, from cool, barefoot-friendly decking to a purpose-built ocean access system with both stairs and a platform, making water access effortless for all ages. A rear-facing bar, multi-dimensional sound system and a striking yacht-style timber fit-out elevate the experience to a new level. Voyager will provide:

• Guided snorkelling at our legendary 6:1 guest-to-guide ratio.
• Introductory diving for those wanting to try scuba for the first time.
• Visiting the best reef sites on the day including moorings at the world-famous Agincourt Ribbon Reefs.
• Onboard comforts including air conditioning, luxury seating, daybeds, premium food and drinks, Wi-Fi and easy water access.
